Software Engineering Intern

1HMX is seeking a motivated Software Engineering Intern to support development efforts for embedded and application-level software used in our human-machine interface (HMI) products. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects supporting aerospace, medical, industrial, and gaming customers.

Assist in the design, development, and testing of software for HMI applications

Write, debug, and maintain code under guidance from senior engineers

Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting, and validation testing

Document software functionality, test results, and development activities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or closely related field

Must currently be in Junior year of college, or Senior graduating in May or December 2026 who is seeking a summer internship

Foundational knowledge of programming languages, preferably including C++

Experience with Unreal Engine and/or Unity preferred, including Blueprint Visual Scripting or C# scripting

Basic understanding of embedded systems and hardware/software interaction preferred

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced engineering environment

Interns must be willing to live in or commute to the Coeur d'Alene area for the summer (at personal expense).
