Aide - Environmental Services Laundry Technician

Job Summary: This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in assigned hospital areas following established policies and procedures. The position involves monitoring laundry machines to clean items such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths, and filter cloths. Additionally, the aide participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives and performs general facility cleaning and upkeep, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning sinks and toilets, and floor washing and waxing. Ground maintenance duties may also be included.

Essential Functions:

  • Carry out all assigned tasks professionally, reflecting the highest standards of the Environmental Services Department.
  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting rooms, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways to ensure a clean, neat, and sanitary environment.
  • Complete work assignments promptly and efficiently.
  • Use appropriate chemicals and supplies according to established procedures.
  • Properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Assist visitors with directions when requested.
  • Introduce oneself courteously to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Report safety hazards as necessary.
  • Transport trash and hazardous waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Replenish supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions, and hand hygiene.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience: One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Requirements: Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, report to work punctually, complete tasks within designated timelines, and demonstrate respectful and courteous communication with patients, guests, and staff. Commitment to the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization is essential.
