As Senior Major Gifts Officer,you will lead the development and execution of a high-impact major gifts strategy, with personal accountability for generating $1-$2 million in annual philanthropic revenue. In this senior frontline role, you will build and deepen relationships with high-capacity donors and prospects, managing a robust portfolio and advancing a strong pipeline of five- and six-figure opportunities. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, you will serve as a trusted partner to individuals and families capable of transformational giving, guiding them from initial engagement to long-term investment. Through strategic relationship management and a focus on results, you will ensure donor engagement translates into sustained, mission-aligned support that drives meaningful and lasting impact.

Responsibilities

  • Secure $10,000+ gifts and six-figure, multi-year commitments to achieve $1-$2M in annual revenue
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline valued at 3-4x revenue targets
  • Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual fundraising goals
  • Manage a portfolio of 150-200 high-capacity donors with defined revenue, upgrade, and retention goals
  • Develop and execute multi-year, donor-centric strategies for sustained revenue growth
  • Lead individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans aligned with donor and organizational priorities
  • Maintain consistent, strategic engagement and clear next steps for all donors and prospects
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new major donors; partner with Marketing to elevate mid-level prospects
  • Move prospects from initial engagement to long-term philanthropic investment
  • Expand major donor presence in key metropolitan markets
  • Establish and uphold qualification standards (capacity, inclination, readiness)
  • Partner with the Chief Revenue Officer on forecasting, pipeline development, and growth strategy
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing and Programs to align funding priorities and campaigns
  • Develop compelling, donor-aligned proposals and solicitations to drive revenue
  • Use data and insights to guide strategy, track performance, and optimize portfolio outcomes
  • Maintain accurate donor plans, activity tracking, and records in Salesforce
  • Identify risks and opportunities and adjust strategies to address gaps or stalled revenue
  • Travel as needed to engage donors and prospects
  • Provide peer coaching, mentorship, and best-practice sharing to strengthen team performance
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of fundraising experience, including 5+ years managing high-capacity major donor portfolios
  • Proven track record securing $15,000-$100,000+ gifts, including multi-year commitments
  • Demonstrated consistent year-over-year revenue growth with strong personal accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
  • High emotional intelligence with strong cross-cultural competency
  • Willing and able to travel as needed
  • Trusted relationship-builder who inspires donor confidence and giving
  • Comfortable owning revenue goals and being directly accountable for results
  • Demonstrates integrity and authenticity in all interactions

Compensation
  • Salary: $110,000 - $130,000
  • 100% paid benefits for employee + family
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangement plan which fully covers the deductible costs of the medical plan (e.g. up to $5k for individual or $10k for family).
