Senior Accountant - Manufacturing (Coeur d'Alene or Laclede)

As a Manufacturing Senior Accountant at Idaho Forest Group, you will be a key member of our finance team, focusing on the financial operations and reporting specific to our manufacturing activities. Your role will involve overseeing the accounting processes related to inventory management, cost accounting, and production analysis. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, provide valuable insights into manufacturing performance, and contribute to the strategic decision-making process. The Manufacturing Senior Accountant will prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and help prepare consolidated financial reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed monthly journal entries for logs and lumber inventory adjustments, adhering to close schedule and checklist.
  • Prepare month-end accrual journal entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly internal site profit and loss reporting, comparing actual results to budget and forecast.
  • Analyze budget/forecast to actual profit and loss variances, providing detailed variance explanations.
  • Generate monthly capital reporting, comparing budget and actual cost by project.
  • Assist with developing incremental cash flow comparisons for expansion capital projects.
  • Provide weekly production cost estimates, comparing estimates to budgets/forecast.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly operations cost review meetings.
  • Quarterly, observe lumber and log cycle counts.
  • Partner with Finance Managers and Senior accounts to develop consistent manufacturing accounting processes and procedures.
  • Prepare government surveys and compliance reporting.
  • Assists with preparing annual budget and forecasts.
  • Other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Skills: Able to deal professionally, courteously, and tactfully with the public and coworkers. Accurate and consistent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification
  • Valid driver's license

Physical Demands

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs. Bend at waist occasional. Twist upper body occasional. Stoop occasional. Lift above waist height occasional. Lift over 50 lbs. - rare. Repetitive use of hands constant for clerical duties. Stand/walk occasional. Sit frequent. Vision near and far correctable; depth perception. Hearing preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies.

Work Environment

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
