You must be able to attend testing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The written and physical agility tests will be held in the morning with oral board interviews in the afternoon for all those who successfully pass the written and physical agility tests. The mission of the Jail is to hold safely and securely all prisoners lawfully committed to the custody of the Kootenai County Sheriff, and those delivered by competent authority to the jail. While in custody, prisoners shall be afforded all rights and privileges guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and the State of Idaho.
$29.92 - $33.76 DOE (includes .50/hr shift differential)

In order to qualify as a Lateral Detention Deputy for the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, the following minimum requirements must be met:
Bonuses:
Lateral candidates Upon hire, a $2500.00 payment is made in the first regularly scheduled paycheck. An additional $2500.00 payment is made upon completion of one (1) year.
Entry level candidates Upon hire, a $500.00 payment is made in the first regularly scheduled paycheck. An additional $500.00 payment is made upon certification. An additional $2500.00 relocation bonus is offered for candidates who qualify. All payments would be in gross wages and subject to applicable withholdings.
