Supervise maintenance and operation of a co-ed maximum security facility for juvenile detainees. Inspect facility for safety/security and cleanliness and take appropriate action. Analyze and approve releases and detainment of booked juveniles, utilizing a Detention risk assessment. Analyze and approve classification of youth. Approve all searches of detainees and visitors and sign off on strip search criteria based on law. Approve the use of restraints. Mentor, train, and supervise new employees and existing staff. Ensure staff are performing within policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Complete performance appraisals. Direct staff assignments, account for all staff and duty assignments. Ensure reports and timecards are completed. Recommend disciplinary action when appropriate and assist Detention management in conducting internal investigations. Testify in court as subpoenaed.
