US Department of Defense - Naval Air Station Whidbey Island - Responsibilities: Perform a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components.; Disassemble, repair, assemble, modify, measure, and/or check, as required, to process aircraft, aircraft engine structures, components, assembles, and/or sub-assemblies.; Analyze and troubleshoot aircraft metal structures and components to determine repair or replacement needs.; Work from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions and at times, under the guidance of a higher-graded mechanic.; Perform specialized work in aircraft systems that require advanced sheet metal skills, including hole-quality, cold working, and layout and design.
