Job Title: Saw Operator / Material Handler Job Description

Join a growing production facility where you will operate metal saws, verify parts meet precise customer tolerances, and support general warehouse and inventory activities. This role combines hands-on equipment operation, basic measurement and math skills, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Operate metal saws to cut material to specified dimensions while ensuring all parts meet customer-required tolerances.

  • Use tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and confirm parts are within specification.

  • Set up saws for production runs, including adjusting settings and ensuring proper alignment and calibration.

  • Perform daily maintenance checks on metal saws, complete maintenance checklists, and report any issues promptly.

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of parts to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with work orders.

  • Verify stock against work order requirements, including alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot number, and grain direction.

  • Mark each part with the required customer identification and stamp work orders to indicate inspection approval.

  • Support general labor tasks such as packing, material handling, and basic fabrication and production activities as needed.

  • Assist with inventory tasks, including organizing, counting, and locating material in the production facility.

  • Operate forklifts safely to move materials and finished products, when qualified and assigned.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following housekeeping and safety guidelines at all times.

  • Follow all safety procedures and prioritize working accurately and carefully rather than rushing.

  • Collaborate with team members, listen to instructions, and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to operate or learn to operate metal saws in a production environment.

  • Proficiency using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify part dimensions.

  • Basic math skills, including converting fractions to decimals and understanding measurements such as quarter-inch in decimal form.

  • Strong safety-oriented mindset with a focus on working carefully and accurately.

  • Demonstrated honesty, integrity, punctuality, cleanliness, kindness, and respect for others.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed during normal job duties.

  • Willingness to start in general labor or packing roles and develop into material handling or saw operation responsibilities.

  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to listen, cooperate, and follow directions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior warehouse experience is a plus.

  • Forklift experience is a plus and will support advancement into material handling responsibilities.

  • Experience with general labor, inventory, blueprint reading, saw operation, fabrication, or production work is beneficial.

  • Comfort working with measurement tools and learning new equipment and processes.

  • Interest in long-term career growth within a production and milling environment.

Employees work around modern production equipment and material handling tools, following safety guidelines and maintaining a neat and orderly workspace, with appropriate work footwear supported through an annual boot and shoe allowance.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
