SUMMARY OF POSITION:

UGM Thrift Stores specialize in reselling, reusing and recycling slightly used donated clothing, furniture and household items. The Assistant Processing Manager works to process donations from donors to retail. This includes, but is not limited to, accepting, sorting and pricing donated items. The Assistant Processing Manager is to partner with the Processing Manager to create a Christ-centered environment by leading the processing team by example and performing all duties required to receive, sort, and donated items.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTIES:

Assist the Processing Manager with supervising Shift Leads, Processing Staff and ETO employees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Result Area #1: Culture, Training and Best Practices

• Perform any of the required job duties within the processing team. This includes all requirements related to accepting donations, presorting and pricing merchandise.
• Welcome donors in a timely manner in a way that they feel confident that UGM appreciates them and understands their value.
• Handle the receiving and donation process with the utmost respect and care including greeting the donor, assisting in unloading donations, telling the UGM Thrift story, repeating details back to donor, and issuing a receipt.
• Maintain clean and well-organized reception, presort and processing areas, and personal processing stations.
• Recognize quality merchandise and effectively research market value of product.
• Work with and effectively communicate with the Processing Manager, other processing employees and donors on a daily basis.
• Help motivate and encourage processing team to adhere to daily and weekly production goals.
• Produce quick and accurate work in a fast-paced environment, successfully staying above company average of pieces produced per hour.

Key Result Area #2: Administrative Duties

• Review Cyfe Dashboards daily to understand and communicate targets to team.
• Collaborate with Processing Manager on outstanding items that may need to be addressed in the department.
• Assist in delegating tasks and responsibilities with the Processing Manager, especially when Manager is not on shift.
• Understand and comply with policies and procedures related items, including prohibited items and pricing guides.
• Effectively use the donation receiving script to communicate appreciation to the donor, and offer coupon.

Key Result Area #3: Environment and Safety

• Monitor safety issues that may affect employees and customers daily.
• Ensure that each new employee receives the Safety Orientation for the store.
• Maintain OSHA and WISHA standards by providing and documenting weekly safety training.
• Maintain awareness of individual employee needs and accommodate as possible and appropriate.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Computer literate with a high proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, UKG HR; able to complete documents and reports and accurately record information.
• Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and instructional.
• Prove to be teachable: organized with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks at once; able to listen and follow instructions.
• Prove to be a leader with ability to listen empathically, respond appropriately in emotional situations, and resolve difficult employee and customer related issues in an understanding way with the goal of maintaining relationships.
• Basic mathematical skills and ability to perform balancing tills and deposits.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

• Work is primarily indoors. It requires climbing stairs, sitting, standing, bending, and reaching - continuously.
• Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the store on a regular and ongoing basis - continuously.
• Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly - continuously.

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:

Variety of tools used in the pricing and production process, i.e. pricing guns, steamers, z-racks, clothing racks and displays, forklift, carts, etc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Two- or four-year college degree in applicable field of study, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Two (2) or more years' experience in the retail industry preferably with sales or processing experience.
• Production experience and knowledge of retail standards, pricing guidelines and processes.
